General Board Meeting called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Chairman Mr. Bettag.  Present were Directors Jack Bettag, Jerry Schloss and David Meyer.  Also present were Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent.  There were no citizens present.

 

            Pledge of Allegiance led by Chief Svetanics.

 

            Mr. Bettag stated that there was one addition to the agenda, 4.12 - Electrical upgrade.

 

            Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as amended, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye. 

 

            Chief Svetanics reported on the Captain’s test held on October 6th.  Those taking the test were Lt. Brian Heidbreder, Lt. Larry Lewellen, Lt. Norman Glover and Lt. Doug Michalski.  Both Lt. Heidbreder and Lt. Lewellen had perfect scores on the written test.  The breakdown of final scores was 35% for the written test, 35% for the oral test and 30% for the officer’s evaluation.  The officers giving the oral test were Assistant Chief Dan Lasata of Mehlville, Deputy Chief John Altman from St. Louis City, Captain Ben Wasser of Affton and Captain Nick Fahs of Mehlville.  Chief Svetanics’ recommendation was to promote Lt. Brian Heidbreder to Captain.

 

Motion by Mr. Meyer to promote Lt. Brian Heidbreder to captain per Chief Svetanics’ recommendation effective October 18, 2011, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Meyer aye.

 

            Chief Svetanics reported that we are accepting bids on the installation of a shower in the basement level of the firehouse.

 

            Chief Svetanics also reported that at the open house Mr. Rhomberg was having trouble with the electrical outlet he was using in the engine room for the snow cone machine, which kept tripping since it was on the same line as the Safe House.  The Board asked Chief Svetanics to look into its repair and to get electrical bids.
