General Board Meeting called to order at 3:05 p.m. by President Mr. Schloss. Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent.
There were no citizens of the district present.
The Pledge of Allegiance led by Chief Svetanics.
Mr. Schloss stated there are no additions to the agenda.
Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the minutes from the general sessions of September 17, 2008 and September 25, 2008, and the closed executive session of September 16, 2008 as presented, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Mr. Meyer gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending September 30, 2008.
Mr. Meyer reported that revenue collected through the lockbox is down for the beginning of this month, but in September it was $44,898, which is unusually high for the month, and that we are $45,000 ahead of budget for the year.
Mr. Meyer stated that actual expenditures for the ninth month of the year are at 76.7% or just above budget (75.0%) at this time of the year.
Mr. Meyer reported that we collected $14,429 in tax revenue in the month of September, as delinquent taxes continue to trickle in.

Chief Svetanics reported that new Pumper 1614 was put into service and that we are extremely happy with it. Attendees at the open house stated how glad they were that we were able to buy it without a tax increase to the district.
Chief Svetanics announced that our 6th Annual Open House was such a success that we may have to extend the time we are open by an extra hour or so for next year. We gave away 300 free flu shots thanks to the donors and volunteers from Eberhart’s Pharmacy. We also had
30 blood donors for the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and gave out 79 bike helmets, thanks to St.
Louis County Health Department. Also thanks to donors we gave away over 500 hotdogs, 15 gallons of chili, cases of water donated by Reinhold Electric and soda donated by Pepsi Cola.

Thanks to Greg Rhomberg of Nu Way Concrete and Ron Herman we were able to display antique fire trucks on both sides of Point Street, which was closed for the occasion. We will have more detailed information on the results of the open house at the next meeting.
Chief Svetanics stated that we will be attending a meeting with the head of site safety for the construction site of the Pinnacle Casino Project. The usual work staff of around 120 people on the project will soon jump to 500 workers at the site, now that the work is getting into full swing.
Chief Svetanics reported that he has met with the Chiefs of Fenton and Eureka and attorney Matt Hoffman over issues related to South County Fire Alarm.
Chief Svetanics stated that we will be holding a test for an officer promotion for the open lieutenant position and have received eight applications requesting to take the test next month.
Chief Svetanics reported that he was one of the guest speakers at the National Fallen Fire Fighters’ Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland earlier this month.
Chief Svetanics has also reported that the Weber Road Bridge is still closed until November, 2008 for remodeling/repair.
Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly lockbox report and MediClaims report, community services report and wage report, General Warranty Deed and Oakville Elks #2726 letter and response.
Motion by Mr. Meyer to advertise the sale of the district’s 1987 pumper with all bids subject to the approval of the board of directors, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Next general meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion will be on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 3:00 p.m.
