General Board Meeting called to order at 3:31 p.m. by President Mr. Schloss. Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent. Mr. John Antone of Hawk iSolutions Group, Inc. was present. There were no citizens of the District present.

Mr. Schloss interrupted the regular agenda at 3:38 p.m. to move to the action agenda number 8.10 Hawk iSolution presentation. John Antone of Hawk iSolutions Group, Inc., the company that manages and repairs the district’s computers, made a presentation at the Board of Directors’ request regarding spam on the District’s internet sites. Mr. Antone made some suggestions which he will present at the next general meeting on October 25, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. Mr. Antone left the meeting at 4:07 p.m.
Mr. Meyer gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending September 30, 2007. Mr. Meyer reported that revenues are $152,288 above budget for the year from collected past and present ambulance fees and interest income. Mr. Meyer reported that Lockbox receipts for September were at $28,158.82, which was slightly below budget for the month. Mr. Meyer stated that expenditures for the ninth month of the year are at 71.6%, which is just under the amount budgeted for the year, so we have done well so far for the first three quarters. Chief Svetanics reported that our annual open house was well received by the residents and considered a huge success by the district. Chief Svetanics stated that this success was due in part to the generous donations from area businesses, such as Eberhart’s Pharmacy, who provided

and administered 199 free flu shots, with 111 of them going to Lemay residents; the Red Cross, who set up the Bloodmobile and collected blood from 29 donors; local businessman Greg Rhomberg of Nu Way Concrete, who donated $100 for us to purchase Gus’s pretzels and five $10 gift certificates for Fergie’s Restaurant and Bar; Don Costello of American Foundry, who donated $100 for Dad’s Cookies and four cookie jars; Mitchell Mechanical, who donated $200 for Ted Drew’s concretes, Ace Hardware for donating 10 fire extinguishers; Fire & Rescue Training, who donated fire extinguishers and gym bags; The Box 8 Club for donating and serving hot dogs, buns, chips and soda; Ray’s Jewelry for donating the use of his message board to advertise the fact that we had a blood drive and free flu shots; and Ron Elz, a/k/a Johnny Rabbit, for announcing the open house on the air. The Lemay Chamber donated maps of Lemay/Affton; and State Representative Jim Lembke delivered copies of the Missouri Official State Manual and the State of Missouri Constitution. All in all, the District gave out 385 hotdogs, 60 pounds of chili, 500 Dad’s cookies, 200 Gus’s pretzels, 108 Ted Drew’s concretes, 5 coolers of soda and water, 20 bike helmets, and all the coloring books, fire helmets, badges, stickers, balloons and pens, pencils and key rings kids could carry. This year has had the highest number of adults and children at the open house, with an estimate of about 500 in attendance and we wish to thank everyone who contributed to and worked to make it a great success.
Chief Svetanics reported that the Lemay Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Community Service Award Dinner honored the Lemay Fire Protection District with a Proclamation for the community service we perform for the district, such as the smoke detectors we install for free to residents and the bike helmets we provide through St. Louis County Health Department, along with installing around 300 car seats a year and the many other services we provide to the citizens of Lemay.
Chief Svetanics also reported that the Oakville Elks Club is honoring Captain Joseph Schuessel as Firefighter of the Year at a dinner to be held on October 20, 2007. Joe has unlimited knowledge as to the workings of a fire department after serving over 30 years at Lemay and the District benefits from his leadership. Joe has worked his way through the ranks of the department from private to assistant chief. Joe has proven to be a great mentor for the entire department and excels in his work ethic and passion. He has received earned respect from all his fellow workers. Captain Schuessel’s dedication to his profession is matched by his dedication to the community. Captain Schuessel is a lifetime resident of Lemay and volunteers countless hours of service to the local VFW and American Legion Post 162, along with other non-profit organizations. The members of the Lemay Fire Protection District are proud to be represented by Captain Joseph Schuessel as Firefighter of the Year.

Mr. Schloss reported that Agenda Number 8.11 will be tabled for discussion and review at the next general meeting to be held on October 23, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.
Next general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at 3:30 p.m., to include pumper bid openings. The regular open meeting for bill discussion will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.
