General Board Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Mr. Bettag. Present were Directors Mr. Bettag, Mr. Schloss, Mr. Meyer and Ms. Vincent. Also present were Captain Schuessel, Lt. Norm Glover, Pvt. Larry Lewellen, Pvt. Johnny Lewellen, Pvt. Keith Pfeifer, Lt. Mark Robinson and Pvt. Bob Firtos. There were also Citizens of the District present: Mrs. Schuessel, Mary Ann and J.J. Schuessel, Ms. Dames and Ms. Pinkley.

The Pledge of Allegiance led by Captain Joe Schuessel.

There were no additions to the agenda. Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye.

Mr. Meyer presented minutes for approval. Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept minutes from the general sessions of March 13, 2006 and March 21, 2006, and the executive session of March 24, 2006 as presented, 2nd by Mr. Meyer, roll call vote Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye.

Mr. Schloss gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending March 31, 2006. Mr. Schloss stated that we will be reviewing only the revenue comparisons this evening because of the notoriously busy income tax season. Expenditures will be discussed at the next month’s meeting.

Mr. Schloss reported that total revenue is down from last year at this time about $3,627, mostly due to more delinquent taxes collected last year owed from previous years. Mr. Schloss stated that revenue is up from last year in ambulance fees at $95,846 and interest income at $14,241 year-to-date.

Mr. Schloss reported that we collected $33,998 in ambulance fees the month of March, and we are still $8,346 over the total budgeted amount of collections for the year. Mr. Schloss stated that overall we are right on target budget wise.

There was no Chief’s Report as Chief Svetanics was out of town to attend the Governor’s Missouri Fire Board meeting in Jefferson City.

Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly lockbox report and MediClaims report, community services report, PIO report, wage report and South County Fire Alarm minutes and treasurer’s report.

Mr. Bettag read from a letter from I.A.F.F. Local No. 2677 regarding the election of Executive Board members. The current members are: Captain Dan Bertelsmeier-President, Pvt. Johnny Lewellen-Vice-President and Captain Tonty Jegel-Secretary/Treasurer.

Mr. Bettag announced receiving a letter from Pamela Guest, Administrator of The Couth County Senior Center (formerly Lemay Senior Center) located at 9451 Gentry. Ms. Guest would like us to increase public awareness of the Home Delivered Meal Program to educate us so that we may refer those in need to these services.

Mr. Bettag also read from a card from a grateful ambulance patient and his wife, thanking the ambulance and pumper crews for their “extraordinary” response time and “professionalism” on a call, and credits them with saving his life.

Next general meeting scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Bettag presented Captain Joseph Schuessel with an award thanking him for 30 years of service with the District. He was also presented with a gift certificate for Cusanelli’s Restaurant. Captain Schuessel’s family and everyone present joined in to congratulate Captain Schuessel followed by a cake and coffee reception.
