General Board Meeting called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chairman Mr. Meyer. Present were Directors Mr. Meyer, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Bettag, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent. Also present were Local #2677 Representatives Captain Bertelsmeier, Captain Jegel and Pvt. Lewellen. There were no citizens present.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as presented, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye.
The Board stated that they are going to put $1,500 into every employee’s new Health Savings Account (HSA) by January 1, 2011. Also, everyone can still take advantage of payroll deductions to put their contributions/deductibles into their HSA accounts. The Board will start this account on August 1, 2010, so employees who previously had amounts taken from their paychecks to pay their portion of the insurance premiums can now have that money put directly into their HSA accounts. The most a family can contribute to their HSA per year is $6,150. The maximum amount a single employee can contribute to his HSA is $3,100 per year. Local #2677 members agreed to this change in their health care benefits.
Motion by Mr. Schloss to pay $1,500 to each employees’ Health Savings Account as of January 1, 2011 for this one time only, and employee contributions will go into their Health Savings Accounts beginning August 1, 2010; the District will be responsible for August thru December as it’s portion of the deductible for 2010, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye.
Local #2677 bargaining representatives left meeting at 4:05 p.m.
Mr. Meyer reported that the Board received word from the St. Louis County Assessor’s Office that the River City Casino is appealing their assessed valuation on personal property and real estate taxes. This means that the taxes from the Casino will go into escrow until the St. Louis County Board of Equalization makes a final decision.
The Board reviewed and signed monthly expenses.
