            General Board Meeting called to order at 3:33 p.m. by Chairman Mr. Meyer.  Present were Directors Mr. Meyer, Mr. Schloss and Mr. Bettag, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent.  District Accountant Joe Schnieders was also present.  There were two citizens of the District present, Mr. Tom Coll and Mr. Dan Venverlou.

 

            Motion by Mr. Schloss to add executive session under State Guidelines of Executive Session - RSMo. 610.021(9) to the agenda, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Schloss to accept the agenda as amended, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

Chief Svetanics reported on the Open House, which is set for Saturday, October 10, and that we are having trouble getting flu shots to give out and the necessary donations to buy them even if we could get them in time.  Hopefully, we will find out more by next month. 

 

Chief Svetanics also reported on the addition of a body scan to our employee physicals that the Board is reviewing.  The body scan can detect serious health risks which, if found early, could save someone’s life.

 

Chief Svetanics also stated that we have run an ad in the legal paper requesting bids and faxed the ad to 10 local car dealers that we are looking to purchase a pickup truck to replace the jeep.  Bids are to be in by September 15.

 

Chief Svetanics reported that the River City Casino will have temporary walls built around the administrative and safety offices by October, and that the full casino will open by March 1, 2010.

 

Mr. Meyer explained to Mr. Venverlou the purpose of the safety tax that we are going to receive from Pinnacle.

   

            Motion by Mr. Bettag to establish a tax rate of .7890 for the General Fund, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye.

            Motion by Mr. Bettag to adopt a tax rate of .0400 blended rate for the Central Dispatch Fund, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Bettag to establish a blended tax rate of .0790 for the Pension Fund, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

            Motion by Mr. Bettag to establish a .1700 blended tax rate for the Ambulance Fund, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

            Mr. Bettag made a motion that the overall blended rate will be 1.7080 dollars per $100.00 of assessed valuation, 2nd by Mr. Schloss, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye. 

 

NOTATION:  The Board questions the blended tax rate of .17 for the Ambulance Fund as set by the State Auditor and disagrees with the changes they made.

 

The Board reviewed and signed monthly expenses.

 

Questions:       Mr. Coll asked the Board, “What is the traffic pattern to get to the boat?”  The

Board and Chief Svetanics replied that from Highway 55 the new road at Weber Road

goes straight in to the complex and that it becomes River City Boulevard.  Chief Svetanics

explained that Hoffmeister will remain open, but it will be for employees and emergency

 use only.  No comments from the floor.

 

            Motion by Mr. Schloss to recess general meeting and move to closed session at 4:45 p.m., 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Meyer aye, Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye.
