General Board Meeting called to order at 3:07 p.m. by President Mr. Schloss. Present were Directors Mr. Schloss, Mr. Bettag and Mr. Meyer, Chief Svetanics and Ms. Vincent.
There was one citizen of the district present, Mr. Tom Coll.
The Pledge of Allegiance led by Chief Svetanics.
Mr. Schloss stated there is one addition to the agenda: 4.10: Change date of next meeting. Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the agenda as printed, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, and Mr. Meyer aye.
Tuesday, September 23rd bill meeting date discussed and changed to Thursday, September 25, 2008.
Motion by Mr. Meyer to accept the minutes from the general sessions of August 12, 2008 and August 19, 2008, and the closed executive session of August 27, 2008 as presented, 2nd by Mr. Bettag, roll call vote Mr. Schloss aye, Mr. Bettag aye, Mr. Meyer aye.
Mr. Meyer gave the treasurer’s report for the month ending August 30, 2008.
Mr. Meyer reported that revenue collected through the lockbox in August was $29,030, which is low for the month, but almost $32,000 ahead of budget for the year.
Mr. Meyer stated that actual expenditures for the eighth month of the year are at 69.9%, or just above than what is expected (66.7%) at this time of the year.
Mr. Meyer reported that we collected $14,381 in tax revenue in the month of August.

Chief Svetanics reported that the crews had three days of training on the new pumper and that we have been mounting tools, hose, radios and everything that will be needed to put the pumper into service. Chief Svetanics stated that we hope to have it in service by Thursday the 25th.

Chief Svetanics reported that South County Fire Alarm has met with the Chiefs and are in discussions over the elimination of the Operations Committee.
Chief Svetanics reported that we will be cutting back on overtime now that we are going to hire new employee Jason Bryce. Pvt. Bryce is from Riverview Gardens and is scheduled to start at the end of the month.
Chief Svetanics stated that we will be taking applications from current employees for the position of lieutenant. The employee must have at least five years of service to apply.
Chief Svetanics reported that he has been invited to Maryland to be a guest speaker at the National Fire Fighters’ Memorial the first week of October.
Chief Svetanics has also reported that the Weber Road Bridge will be closed from September 22, 2008 for 60 days for remodeling/repair.
Chief Svetanics reported on a building fire at Goetz and Military.
Chief Svetanics also stated that a citizen of Lemay who was a regular attendee at the board meetings who passed away was Al Klein. He will be sorely missed.
Monthly reports presented on training by each crew member, maintenance report, fire incident report and summary, ambulance statistics, ambulance monthly lockbox report and MediClaims report, public relations report, community services report and wage report and South County Fire Alarm’s meeting minutes.
Next general meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 3:00 p.m. The regular open meeting for bill discussion will be on Monday, October 20, 2008, at 3:00 p.m.
